Our Mascot

Our mascots, Oscar and William, are the two heads of a two-headed calf. With the name Ephemeral, we wanted to choose something that didn’t last long but continues to be remembered, so we chose the two-headed calf from the poem by Laura Giplin. They’re named after the Wilde brothers — Oscar Wilde, renowned poet and playwright, and William Wilde, popular journalist and poet. Our mascots, just like the famous writers they’re named after, love seeing what you talented people send us, whether it’s writing, art, or photography. They can’t wait to see what you create!!

Meet Team Ephemeral

All about our lovely team leaders!

Kambius Pohwala

Founder

Hi! I'm Kambius, but everyone calls me Kam. I'm 15 years old, and a sophomore in the USA. I love all forms of art, whether it's poetry, art, music, or photography. I made this magazine because of these passions. It started as just a school project, a concept of an initiative you'd want to run, but that inspiration struck me like lightning. I've put my everything into making this magazine, and it's one of the things I love most in life. I also love older music, movies, dogs, volunteering at the library, and my friends. I'm a staff writer for my school's newspaper and literary magazine, as well as a member of the National English Honors Society.

Hanna

Editor in Chief

Hi, I'm Hanna! I'm a 17-year-old Grade 11 student from the Philippines. I am deeply interested in fashion, politics, and literature — and, above all, the craft of writing. I enjoy writing essays and short stories and playing the piano. I am passionate about writing and advocating for change when needed, and I use writing as my vehicle to do so. I believe that "the youth is the hope of the nation," as said by the Philippines' national hero, Jose Rizal. I am excited to lead, collaborate, and grow alongside The Ephemeral Gazette, where ideas flourish, voices are amplified, and stories make an impact.
