CATEGORY SPECIFICATIONS

poetry: up to 5 poems at any length
-
prose: 1-2 pieces (up to 3000 words) includes fiction, short stories, essays, creative nonfiction, memoirs, novel excerpts, and other longer forms of writing that do not classify as poetry
-
art/photography: submit high-resolution images of visual art, illustrations, or photographs.

note: you MAY NOT submit more than FIVE items

ALL SUBMISSIONS MUST…

Be related to the theme in some way (you will be asked in the submission form to explain how it relates)

Be completely original and of your own work – NO PLAGIARISM. NO AI.

Be submitted in separate documents if submitting multiple works.

Be submitted from someone at least 13 years old and under 21 years old
-
Have a translation provided if the submission is not in English. If accepted, we will publish both together.

Credit Ephemeral, if accepted for the issue and not previously published, as your piece's first publication in any following reprints. When published, we receive First Serial Rights.

Note: we do accept simultaneous submissions, BUT if your work has been accepted elsewhere after submitting, please shoot us an email immediately so we know and can credit them! If published previously: please dictate who has published it already

Format for VISUAL works:

Be high quality and not pixelated (if it's a photograph: t can be blurry for artistic effect, but not pixelated. If your work is submitted but low quality, we will contact you so you can resubmit and be properly evaluated )

We accept: photography, physical art, digital art, sculpture, ceramics, scrapbooks, moodboards, and more (if you are unsure if your work fits one of these categories please send an email!)

Note: After accepting images of physical artwork (art, sculpture, ceramics, scrapbooks, etc), we may ask you to take another photo of it if it's hard to see it properly (due to lighting, photo quality, etc)

This is a youth magazine, meant to publish young creatives’ work. It is targeted towards people between ages 13-21, and is run by a group of high schoolers. Please make your submissions appropriate for this demographic.

In our form, you will be asked to state content/trigger warnings if applicable. These do play a factor in whether or not your work is accepted, and our team of editors will decide whether or not your work is appropriate for our youth magazine based on the content of your work. You can submit content that fits some of these warnings, but please don't make it extreme or graphic. Warnings include:​​

Hate, Discrimination, and Oppression​: We understand that many of people's work can stem from their own experiences, and hate may be used in stories. We will, usually, allow it as a part of a story, but we do not tolerate actual hate speech from the creator of the work.

We do not accept works that involve sex or sexual violence.

We ask you to limit the profanity and extremely graphic violence.

Every work is carefully reviewed by our team of editors and, when called for, by our heads of staff.

You will be notified if your piece violates a guideline of ours and either asked to 1) adjust your piece, or 2) submit something else.
